Are you interested in Family or Local History?
Wymondham is fortunate to have various sources of information about the local history of the town: the Town Archive, the Muniment Room in the Abbey (both holding documents) and the Heritage Museum (holding mainly artefacts but also some aids to family history research including some 19th century census data).
Wymondham Town Archive has a large selection of local documents dating from the 17th to 20th centuries, many of which came from a local law firm. There is also a large collection of photographs dating from the Victorian period onwards.
The Town Archive is run by volunteers and is housed in the Town Council Offices. The Town Council provides a small annual grant for running costs and a recent grant from the Lottery Fund provided a computer and photocopier. Donations are always appreciated.
